Representatives and delegates of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted requests for holding emergency sessions of both houses of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with only one item on the agenda, which is a new credit indebtedness of BiH citizens with the International Monetary Fund, approved by the Fiscal Council of BiH, announced the SDP BiH, reports the Patria news agency.
As the current ruling coalition SDA-HDZ-SBB is trying with all its might to present the new credit indebtedness as a gift from international financial institutions and since the Letter of Intent to the IMF has never been clearly presented, nor has the purpose of the new credit indebtedness been explained, the representatives and delegates of SDP BiH believe that at the emergency sessions of the FBiH Parliament, the planned use of credit funds must be presented to the citizens.
Also, the representatives and delegates of the SDP demand that these sessions be broadcast live on television channels of public broadcasters, so that citizens can have insight into the, allegedly, sincere intentions of the ruling coalition.
Given that the new indebtedness is taken under a grace period model of four years, with a repayment period of 13 years, it is clear that this is a Letter of Intent that should have been presented to the public first, and then submitted to the state and entity Parliaments for consideration, because the Parliaments will ultimately implement a large part of what the executive leaders agreed with the IMF.
It is precisely all citizens who will repay the billion KM loan, so it is the minimum democratic obligation to inform those same citizens about the obligations that the authorities have taken on in their name. Also, it is evident that, due to the four-year grace period, the loan will start to be repaid by the government that will be formed after the general elections in 2018, which is another reason why all parliamentary parties should have been involved in the realization of this credit indebtedness, which, unfortunately, was not the case, the statement reads.
