SDP and HDZ ministers have loans in Swiss francs

Swiss franc loans are currently an incurable headache for more than 60,000 Croats. The franc exchange rate, which until last Thursday was 6.39 kuna, literally overnight jumped by 15 percent, and continued to rise. According to the current exchange rate list of the Croatian National Bank, one franc is worth 7.66 kuna, writes Index.hr, reports the Patria News Agency. 

Among the numerous Croats who took out loans in Swiss francs are also well-known politicians. One of them is the Minister of Finance Boris Lalovac, a man who has spent almost his entire working life in the financial sector. He too could not protect himself from a risky loan in Swiss francs: he has a loan of about 135 thousand francs. 

Prime Minister Zoran Milanović himself, according to his own admission, had a loan in Swiss francs, albeit a slightly smaller one. He took it out to buy a car, which he then sold to get rid of the loan. Minister of Agriculture Tihomir Jakovina is burdened with a loan for a house of 130 thousand francs.

There are also loan users in Swiss francs among HDZ members. Interestingly, two members of the HDZ, who are considered economic experts within their party, took out loans in Swiss francs: former Minister for Investments Ivan Domagoj Milošević and former Minister of Economy Đuro Popijač. Milošević is repaying a loan of 194 thousand francs that his wife took out, and Popijač took out a loan of as much as half a million francs.
