SDP: Izetbegović's reduced approach to NATO is treason to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP BiH) most strongly condemns Mr. Izetbegović's statement in which he offers Dodik the fabricated category of "reduced NATO approach", it was announced on Wednesday from the SDP.

Particularly concerning, according to the SDP, is the "the state is me" approach, where the president of one party gives himself the right to circumvent the law and signed international obligations of our country.

"It is clear that this is a classic betrayal aimed at selling the NATO path and the secure future of our citizens for a few seats."

The SDP expects all political and social actors to condemn the aforementioned move, and the members of the Presidency of BiH not to agree to "political acrobatics and improvisations that harm the future of our country in the long run."

"We do not want to believe that on the eve of the party congress, the candidate for president has played with serious matters in order to create a more favorable congress environment, which is currently at a minimum after the fact that he has been unable to form a government for 10 months since the elections", stated the SDP BiH, reports the Patria News Agency.

The President of the Party of Democratic Action, Bakir Izetbegović, offered the leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, to accept a reduced Annual National Program, while the path of Bosnia and Herzegovina towards NATO integration would be a subject of later negotiations.

In a statement to BHRT, Izetbegović told the SNSD leader that his party remains one of the main partners for forming the government, but that it is now up to Milorad Dodik to take the next step.

"We are also ready to say 'there is no NATO membership without new consensus', we will not force anyone, but we cannot give up on the rule of law and respecting the Constitution", said Izetbegović, among other things.
