SDP BiH: Maximum engagement of police and security agencies needed

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomes today's action by state security agencies and the arrest of suspects for the murder of Sarajevo police officers three years ago.

"Actions like these instill security in the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and are proof that even the most serious criminal offenses can be solved through cooperation of security agencies. However, in a time of great political tensions, we can expect those who will try to exploit political instability for their lowest impulses to emerge. This happens even in much more organized countries than ours.

Unfortunately, the already complicated constitutional and legal framework, the blockade of state institutions, political conflicts and divisions contribute to the feeling of insecurity and war psychosis among citizens in every part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Therefore, on behalf of the SDP BiH, we address all police agencies from the state level, through the entities and Brčko District to the cantons in the Federation of BiH, to call for their maximum engagement, mutual cooperation, and to do everything in their power to protect the security of citizens and the constitutional and legal order.

We call on them to show professionalism in performing their duties within their entrusted authorities, of which today's joint action by state and entity police agencies is the best indicator. It is especially important to show responsibility and readiness to guarantee the security of returnees in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through their professional approach and preventive action, police and security agencies will contribute to the feeling of security for all citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina," the SDP BiH announced.
