SDP BiH and DF: Pressure on the Court and Prosecutor's Office must stop

The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Democratic Front, regarding the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the unprecedented abuse of BiH institutions for the purpose of exerting pressure on the work of judicial authorities, issue a joint press release, which the Patria agency transmits in its entirety.

- Any form of pressure by the highest officials of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially members of the Presidency of BiH and certain members of the Council of Ministers of BiH, as well as other institutions and political representatives in BiH on the Court and Prosecutor's Office of BiH must stop immediately.

The practice of stopping and blocking the work of legislative and executive institutions in BiH caused by the arrest of SBB president Fahrudin Radončić must be stopped immediately because it represents the most severe form of exerting pressure on the work of judicial authorities and an attempt to create an atmosphere of chaos in the country.

We give full support to the work of the Prosecutor's Office and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and expect that holders of judicial functions will work solely and exclusively in the interest of justice, and on the basis of the Constitution and laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that activities related to the Radončić arrest case will be carried out professionally and efficiently.

From the inter-resort working group of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is preparing amendments to the Election Law, we demand that within 15 days it prepare and submit to the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH amendments to the Election Law that would prescribe the procedure for calling Early Elections in BiH.

We demand and call on all political parties in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH to urgently adopt amendments to the Election Law so that regular local and early general elections are held in BiH in October 2016. SDP and DF will support the adoption of these amendments and the calling of early general elections.

In the period until the holding of early elections, we demand that governments at all levels direct their activities exclusively towards the realization of obligations arising from the Reform Agenda and the continuation of BiH's path towards membership in the European Union and NATO alliance. We commit that our representatives at all levels will support the implementation of these legislative activities.

We call on all political forces in the country to behave with maximum responsibility, to respect elementary democratic standards, and to stop creating an atmosphere of chaos because this threatens the stability of the state and causes enormous damage to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina - state SDP BiH and DF.
