SDA: Scandalous verdict of the Hague Tribunal

The Party of Democratic Action (SDA), although supporting the work of the Hague Tribunal, considers today's acquittal of Vojislav Šešelj scandalous, according to a statement from this party, reports the Patria News Agency.

In recent years, especially after the verdict against Perišić and others, it became clear that the Hague Tribunal is changing legal standards with the aim of excluding any connection of the then Serbian regime with the committed crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. This verdict went a step further by misinterpreting some important facts that were fully and correctly established in earlier proceedings of the Hague Tribunal.

By acting in this way, the trial chamber in the Šešelj case has inflicted great injustice and deeply hurt the victims of his crimes throughout Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We expect the Appeals Chamber of the Hague Tribunal to change this decision, declare Šešelj guilty and punish him, and bring long-awaited justice to the victims.

The change in the legal standards of the Hague Tribunal can only bring short-term benefits to Serbia, and in the long run, it will not be good for either Serbia or the region. There can be no progress for the region or any individual country without confronting the truth about the wars of the 1990s, the statement reads.
