SDA: Premature Signing of the Agreement, We Have a Majority with Partners in the Bosniak Clubs

(Patria) - After today's signing of the agreement on the formation of executive and legislative authorities between HDZ BiH and the Eight, the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) responded. They assessed that the signing of the agreement on the formation of government is premature at a time when the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has not been formed.

"This aims to create the illusion that it is a done deal, so that during the election of the remaining members to the Bosniak Club, some actors might waver and side with the Eight. However, that will not happen. The SDA, together with its partners, will have a majority in the Bosniak Club of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and consequently in the Bosniak Club of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina," the SDA stated.

As they further note, the premature agreement, "which, by the signatories' own admission, was written in the HDZ headquarters, is contrary to the will of the citizens."

"Its primary goal is to remove the SDA and DF bloc, which received the most convincing support from voters, from power. This will result in reducing the will of pro-Bosnian-oriented voters, who make up three-quarters of the electorate, to half of the government in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina," the SDA's reaction reads.

It further emphasizes that, according to announcements, the Eight and HDZ intend to form the state-level government with the SNSD.

"This would further weaken the pro-Bosnian element, which at the state level would be reduced to one-third of the so-called Bosniak quota, even though pro-Bosnian parties hold 60 percent of the seats in the State Parliament. The SDP must prevent such a catastrophic scenario and avoid making a historic mistake. The SDP has the opportunity, in agreement with the opposition from the RS entity and the Movement for the State, to elect two delegates to the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and form a state government without the SNSD. This would show that it has not been swayed by the will of some embittered local politicians with whom it forms the Eight, whose only goal is to seize power, but that it is a responsible, state-building party," the SDA states.

In this, the SDP will have the full support of the SDA, they note.

"If, instead, it chooses to gift the SNSD a fourth delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, bring it into power, and hand over all mechanisms for blocking the state to it and the HDZ, while reducing the dominant pro-Bosnian bloc to the so-called Bosniak quota of 33 percent, the SDP will bear historical responsibility for the consequences that inevitably follow in such a scenario. This will definitively show that a few chairs are of greater interest to them than the interest of the state," the SDA statement concludes.
