SDA calls on RS to halt formation of reserve police force

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Party of Democratic Action warns the authorities of the RS entity to be aware of the consequences of their announcements about forming a reserve component of the entity police and calls on them to halt this process.

The introduction of a reserve component, the SDA believes, will disrupt the existing balance in the number of police officers and negatively affect the general security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially, as the SDA points out, because these announcements come at a time "when Milorad Dodik is once again drawing new maps of the so-called 'Greater Serbia', at the expense of BiH and Montenegro."

"Dodik and the authorities in the RS must be aware that those who drew maps and introduced reserve components in the name of the Serbian people in the 90s ended up in the cells of the Hague Tribunal, and that the attempt to create 'Greater Serbia' brought suffering and losses to all peoples in the region, and especially to Serbs.

They must also be aware that, if the authorities of the RS entity insist on introducing a reserve police force, it will provoke a decisive and concrete response in the Federation of BiH and its cantons, in the form of introducing a reserve force and equipping the police in the FBiH. In doing so, they must take into account that the Federation has much greater financial and other capacities when it comes to the possible procurement of additional equipment and the engagement of personnel for police forces.

Therefore, it is best not to embark on such a process at all. We call on the RS authorities not to take any steps in this direction, because provoking any instability is not in the interest of any people or citizens in BiH, but also in the region," the SDA states.
