SDA: Delaying reaction encourages SNSD, international community must not repeat mistake

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The laws on the HJPC, property, and medicines adopted by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska are a direct attack on the BiH Constitution and the Dayton Peace Agreement and must be annulled and repealed, the SDA announced today.

"The High Representative has received clear support from the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) to use his powers and instruments at his disposal, and we expect him to do so without delay, without waiting for public debates or the eventual publication of the laws in the official gazette.

In 2009, the OHR annulled unconstitutional acts of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska related to the transfer of competencies in a similar situation, and this practice should continue, as it is an obligation given to them by the Dayton Agreement.

Appeals and verbal condemnations are not enough. Any delay in concrete actions only further encourages the SNSD to continue its attacks on the BiH Constitution, which could have unforeseeable consequences for legal certainty, citizens' health, but also lead to the disruption of stability and peace.

The international community, through its passivity and indulgence, should not repeat the mistakes of the 1990s, when it did not react in time and stop Radovan Karadžić. The consequences of passivity, unfortunately, were tragic," the statement said.
