SDA and HDZ are blocking the "Plava voda" project: Kasumović is angry, secured funds will result in penalties

The Zenica City Council is holding a heated emergency session in the large hall of the City of Zenica, on the topic of the regional project "Plava voda". Councilors of the Zenica City Council must find new solutions regarding the financial issues in the implementation of the "Plava voda" project on today's session.

Also today, a session of the ZDK Assembly is being held, where some deputies requested that a point be included in the agenda to discuss the problems in the implementation of the capital project "Plava voda".

The "Plava voda" project is worth 22 million euros, and loan funds have already been secured from two European banks. The goal of the "Plava voda" project is to supply drinking water to Zenica, Travnik, Novi Travnik, Vitez, and Busovača.

- The ZDK Assembly is requested to urgently make a relevant decision based on the request of the City Council, in accordance with the assumed obligations that the ZDK government undertook in the "Plava voda" project. The City of Zenica expresses its readiness to provide collateral in the form of assets for the loan and authorizes the mayor to find a solution or an extension of the deadline with the Prime Minister of ZDK and the Government of the Federation of BiH - the conclusion states.

The ZDK Government, at its last session, supported the implementation of the "Plava voda" project, but was decisive that legal procedures must be followed in the process of obtaining guarantees for the efficient repayment of loan funds necessary for its realization.

- We are not in a situation to ask the creditor to extend the deadline, and the reason for that is that they will consider us to have withdrawn. I communicate with the EBRD every day, the funds are reserved, the funds are approved, let's not pay penalties because we are not using them. I am angry at those who are against their city getting water. I cannot understand why we should postpone, choose a delegation to go to the ZDK assembly. SDA and HDZ deputies are resisting the inclusion of the "Plava voda" project point on the ZDK assembly agenda - stated Mayor Fuad Kasumović at the end of the session.
