SD Cankar organizes art colony in Mostar, exhibition on May 9

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Given that the survival of cultural identities is not enough to raise awareness of the need for their preservation solely among members of national minorities, the Slovene Society Cankar promotes intercultural dialogue and strives to actively contribute to the cultural content of Bosnia and Herzegovina while nurturing the intangible cultural heritage of Slovenians.

SD Cankar strives to contribute to the image of Bosnia and Herzegovina as an intercultural environment in which coexistence and knowledge of the customs, culture, and history of all peoples living there are active.

For several years in a row, the Slovene Society Cankar has been organizing art colonies in which painters of Slovene origin from BiH and surrounding countries, as well as sympathizers of Slovene culture and tradition, participate. From April 7 to April 10, the Slovene Society Cankar is holding an art colony in Mostar titled "Let's Stay Together, Like Stone and Water," and the artworks created will be exhibited in the Ivana Kobilica gallery at the Embassy of Slovenia in Sarajevo, on the occasion of May 9 – Europe Day.

Due to unfavorable weather conditions, the colony is being held on the terrace of the EMEN hotel, ul. Oneščukova 32.

The Slovene Society Cankar was first founded in 1934 as the Workers' Cultural Society Canakar. Its work was interrupted several times, and during the war, on March 13, 1993, it was re-established and has been operating successfully ever since.
