Scholz: The war in Ukraine could last for several more years

(Patria) - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that he believes the war in Ukraine could last for several more years.

- Nobody can say whether this war might last for five years - Scholz said last night in the city of Chemnitz in eastern Germany.

Scholz defended German military aid to Ukraine and added that diplomacy must be cultivated alongside it.

- Since the beginning of the war, however, Russian President Vladimir Putin has shown no signs of progress. Dictated peace is unacceptable. He must not be allowed to get away with this - added the German Chancellor.

Scholz was a guest at a panel discussion organized by the newspaper Freie Presse titled "Germany under pressure. How can the coalition act under new conditions?".
