Schmidt: A stable and independent Central Bank of BiH is in the public interest

(Patria) - High Representative Christian Schmidt praised the Central Bank of BiH for fulfilling its constitutional and legal obligations in the best interest of the entire country. All citizens of BiH in both entities and in Brčko District benefit from a stable currency.

'The Central Bank of BiH contributes to maintaining the stability of the domestic currency and the banking sector, even in times of global crises. Just a few days ago, it distributed IMF funds to Bosnia and Herzegovina intended to mitigate the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. International credit rating agencies, whose reports serve as guidelines for investment decisions, continuously recognize the significant role of the Central Bank of BiH,' stated High Representative Christian Schmidt.

In a phone conversation with Governor Senad Softić, the High Representative expressed full support for this institution and the work of its Governing Council, emphasizing that preserving the continuity of its work and independence from politics is key to the overall stability and development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
