Sattler at the BiH Central Election Commission: There will be more reports to the BiH Prosecutor's Office

(Patria) - Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina Ambassador Johann Sattler met today with his associates with the president and members of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The main topic of the meeting was the implementation of the General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina held on 02.10.2022. The President of the Central Election Commission of BiH, Suad Arnautović, emphasized that the Central Election Commission of BiH will analyze all cases of irregularities in detail. For polling station committees and municipal/city election commissions for which personal responsibility is established, misdemeanor proceedings will be initiated, fines will be imposed, and a ban on engagement in election administration for 4 years will be issued, and for those cases where there is suspicion of a criminal offense related to the election process, a report will be filed with the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

The upcoming activities of the Central Election Commission of BiH and the implementation of indirect elections for the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH, the Council of Peoples of Republika Srpska, the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, as well as the president and vice-presidents of the Federation of BiH were also discussed.

At the meeting, commitment was expressed to the implementation of a joint project financed by the European Union. This is a pilot project that will be implemented in the first half of 2023 at 165 polling stations in 10 municipalities/cities, where the electronic voter identification system and the system for faster transmission of results from polling stations to municipal/city election commissions and the Central Election Commission of BiH will be tested.
