Sattler thanked Komšić for BiH's stance on Ukraine

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, spoke tonight with the European Union Special Representative in BiH and Head of the Delegation of the European Union, Johann Sattler.

Ambassador Sattler expressed his gratitude for Bosnia and Herzegovina's stance on the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine.

On that occasion, he emphasized that he greatly appreciates that Bosnia and Herzegovina, through the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN in New York, joined the European Union's statements on Ukraine and co-sponsored the resolution, and that Bosnia and Herzegovina supported the suspension of the Russian Federation from the Council of Europe. Sattler emphasized that now is not the time for political balancing, but for taking sides based on international law.

The Chairperson Komšić emphasized that it is a civilizational obligation to be on the side of the attacked Ukraine and informed Ambassador Sattler about the instruction to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bisera Turković, to directly apply the provisions of the UN Charter, the BiH Foreign Policy Strategy, and the obligations from the Stabilization and Association Agreement concerning the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU regarding the aggression against Ukraine.

Ambassador Sattler informed the Chairperson of the BiH Presidency about the decision to deploy an additional 500 EUFOR soldiers who are well-equipped and possess heavy armored machinery, and who will be deployed in parts of BiH where excesses have been recorded in the past period, especially in returnee communities. The Chairperson Komšić welcomed this form of support, which means a lot in effectively supporting peace and stability in BiH and preserving its territorial integrity.
