Meeting of Salihović and Brammertz: Prosecutor's Office of BiH has resolved almost all Category 2 cases

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has resolved almost all Category 2 cases, and the remaining 5 will be resolved by the end of the year, stated at the meeting the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH Goran Salihović, who held the meeting with Serge Brammertz, the Chief Prosecutor of the Hague Tribunal, announced the Prosecutor's Office, Patria reports.

At the meeting of chief prosecutors, Salihović informed colleagues from The Hague that the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has resolved three more Category 2 cases since the last meeting, achieving exceptionally good results in the previous period.

In the past two years, work on these cases has been intensified, with indictments raised in 16 Category 2 cases, investigations suspended in 3 cases, and orders not to conduct investigations issued in 4 cases.

In the mentioned period, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH resolved 23 Category 2 cases, and it was emphasized that these are truly significant results, as these are cases of exceptional complexity, where investigations were initiated at the Prosecutor's Office attached to the ICTY.

Chief Prosecutor Salihović once again stated that he has set clear deadlines for prosecutors and that all remaining Category 2 cases, a total of 5, must be completed by the end of the year.

The meeting also discussed the continued cooperation between the two prosecutor's offices and their joint mission and work on establishing the rule of law and preventing impunity for war crimes.

At the meeting, it was concluded that strengthening mutual cooperation between the prosecutor's offices of the region and the Prosecutor's Office attached to the ICTY is key to achieving good results in the criminal prosecution of perpetrators of war crimes.
