GOVERNORS' MEETING Inflation and monetary policy, uncertainty and financial sector in focus

(Patria) - Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina Senad Softić participated in the jubilee 10th meeting of governors of central banks of the region's countries, held on May 5 and 6, 2022, in Rovinj.

The topics of this year's meeting were inflation and monetary policy, uncertainty and the financial sector in the context of Russian presence in the banking sector, and economic recovery in light of the conflict in Ukraine and sanctions against Russia. On this occasion, the importance of financial stability for the region and for each country was once again emphasized. The choice of the main speaker of the meeting, Mr. Klaus Regling, Director of the European Stability Mechanism, the umbrella institution in the eurozone responsible for maintaining long-term financial stability and prosperity, speaks best to this.

Governor Softić emphasized that the currency board in BiH is key to overall financial, economic, and even social stability. Cooperation with responsible institutions has shown that problems, when they arise, are solvable when there is quality inter-institutional cooperation.

In addition to the Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, governors of the central banks of Croatia, Slovenia, North Macedonia, and Montenegro attended the meeting of the region's governors. These meetings are traditionally held every year, organized by the weekly business magazine "Lider", with the aim of improving cooperation among the region's financial institutions and exchanging experiences in combating and mitigating the consequences of financial and economic crises.
