Meeting of BiH and Kosovo Delegations: Preventing Further Damage to Domestic Businesses

(Patria) - The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH organized a meeting of BiH and Kosovo delegations today to discuss the decision of the Pristina authorities on 100% tariffs on goods from BiH.

The two sides agreed that today's discussions have opened the door for further dialogue and that competent institutions should find the best solutions for existing obstacles in the movement of people, goods, and services in the shortest possible period.

Insisting on the most urgent resolution of the problem, in order to prevent further damage to domestic businesses, the BiH delegation requested that the tariffs be temporarily abolished, while simultaneously seeking a solution for the unimpeded movement of people and the regulation of the visa regime, following the example of other countries that have not recognized Kosovo's independence.

The Pristina delegation will inform the competent authorities about the BiH side's initiative, emphasizing the need to create conditions for resolving the issue of recognition of documents and visa liberalization between BiH and Kosovo as soon as possible.

In addition to officials from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Kosovo, representatives of CEFTA also attended the meeting.

The representative of the Ministry of Finance of Albania, which currently chairs CEFTA, Majlinda Hafizi, emphasized the importance of respecting the CEFTA agreement in the context of further integration processes, and expressed confidence that an adequate solution will be found in this case as soon as possible, in the interest of both parties, it was announced after the meeting from this institution.
