The Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) of the European Union today approved all six points of the Action Plan of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations and the Veterinary Office of BiH, related to meeting the conditions for milk export to the European Union, including the last two points that were not met, confirmed Mirko Šarović, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, for the Patria agency.
- We received the green light from the FVO, and now it is up to us to adopt the necessary legislation through Parliament in the coming weeks, perhaps even by urgent procedure – Šarović told NAP.
He explained that after that, they will invite the FVO inspection to BiH, when they should finally get the permit for milk export to the European Union.
Šarović confirmed that the Veterinary Office of BiH will be the guarantor of milk quality.
As the director of the Sarajevo dairy "Milkos" Adin Fakić previously told the Patria agency, the two points that were not met related to the method of milk control because the foreigners wanted one institution, and the second point was the issue of certificates, which was purely technical.
Fakić told Patria that he is optimistic that we will be allowed to export milk and that, as far as quality is concerned, BiH milk meets the criteria from both microbiological and toxicological aspects.
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović will hold a press conference on Wednesday at 12 PM, where he will provide more information together with the director of the Veterinary Office of BiH Ljubomir Kalaba.
