Šarović with Chinese delegation: Number of Chinese tourists in BiH doubled

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The number of Chinese tourists is doubling every year, and it is expected that by the end of the year, around 100,000 Chinese tourists will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was said at today's meeting between the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović and a delegation from the People's Republic of China and the city of Nanjing.

The meeting assessed that the evident, accelerated development of tourism cooperation has been significantly contributed to by the entry into force of the visa-free regime agreement between the two countries last year, as well as the Memorandum on Facilitating Group Travel of Chinese Tourists to BiH, and in the first eight months of 2019, around 65,000 tourists visited Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Minister Šarović, as the national coordinator for cooperation with the People's Republic of China, emphasized that the two countries, in addition to significant trade and economic agreements, have very useful cooperation through the China 17+1 and 'One Belt, One Road' platforms.

"In the past period, we have had large and valuable investments realized with the People's Republic of China, such as the Stanari Thermal Power Plant and the start of the construction of Block 7 in Tuzla. The intensity of our cooperation is also illustrated by an interesting example of a company from Herzegovina that exports processed stone to China," Šarović stated.

The Chairman of the Nanjing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Liu Yian, emphasized the successful cooperation between companies from our country and China, stating that currently 48 Chinese companies cooperate with BiH companies.

The city of Nanjing is one of the most economically developed Chinese cities, with more than eight million inhabitants, and one of the most significant Chinese economic centers.
