Šarović with a delegation from Malaysia: Soon export of beef and sheep meat

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - "Bosnia and Herzegovina should soon receive permission to export beef and sheep meat to Malaysia, and the key conditions requested by this country have already been met", it was said today at the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations and the Minister of Domestic Trade of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasutiion Ismail.

"The request for export approval, with all the answers requested so far, has already been submitted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations and the Veterinary Office of BiH, at the request of the Malaysian side. We have the necessary quality, and it is crucial for us to successfully meet European standards, which is why we have developed trade not only with the EU but also with Turkey and Russia", emphasized Minister Šarović.

The interlocutors agreed that the process of obtaining meat export permits should be completed as soon as possible so that domestic businessmen can start exporting meat to this significant market. Malaysia imports 80% of meat and meat products from other countries. It was also agreed to take steps to accelerate the entry into force of the previously signed Trade Relations Agreement between BiH and Malaysia, in order to open the door for trade exchange of other products of plant and animal origin, in addition to meat.

It was stated at the meeting that the overall cooperation with Malaysia is on an upward trend, especially in the field of tourism. Around 20,000 Malaysian tourists visit Bosnia and Herzegovina annually.
