Šarović - Pekdemirli: New tender announced for export of meat from BiH to Turkey

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović discussed today in Sarajevo with the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Turkey, Bekir Pakdemirli, about the continuation of export of meat and raspberries from BiH to Turkey.

Emphasizing that it is necessary for the parliaments to ratify the new Free Trade Agreement between BiH and the Republic of Turkey as soon as possible, Minister Šarović requested from the Turkish side that exports to this country continue unhindered in the meantime, so that BiH businessmen do not suffer the consequences of waiting. "We currently have 4,000-5,000 tons of deboned meat ready, and it is very important that exports proceed smoothly and that there are no delays in that regard," said Minister Šarović.

In this regard, it was announced from the Turkish side that a new tender for imports from BiH will be announced in the coming period, and that an exception will be made when it comes to Bosnia and Herzegovina, because, as the Turkish minister pointed out, "this country has not been importing meat from other countries for a long time".

It was jointly stated that Turkey is one of the most important foreign trade partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that cooperation has been constantly moving "upward" in recent years. Despite the fall of the Turkish lira last year and the consequent drop in exports from BiH, the volume of trade exchange of 700 million dollars was maintained. The common goal was highlighted that, with the mutual efforts of the two countries, the volume of trade exchange reaches one billion dollars annually as soon as possible.
