SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović met today with the Ambassador of Russia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Petar Ivancov, to discuss open issues and the improvement of further cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting discussed the opening of the Russian market for food of animal origin from Bosnia and Herzegovina. “I believe we have made enough progress because the European Union, which requires high standards, has already allowed us to export most types of food. The system for exporting food of animal origin is sufficiently developed, and I expect the Russian border to open for our businessmen in this area as well,” stated Minister Šarović.
Ambassador Ivancov welcomed the recent adoption of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of economic cooperation in third-country markets. Also, the meeting discussed Bosnia and Herzegovina's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the issue of the quality of liquid petroleum fuels, the regulation of which is important for negotiations with the Russian side on BiH's accession to that organization.
Ambassador Ivancov congratulated Minister Šarović on his election as the president of SDS, emphasizing that his election will be a positive step for the party.
