SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović will hold urgent consultations with competent institutions in the coming days and initiate the necessary procedures towards the Council of Ministers of BiH, in order to ban the export of timber assortments from Bosnia and Herzegovina for a period of two years, and introduce a tax on the export of beech and oak sawn timber, all in order to protect domestic producers.
"The intention is for these measures to be uniform for both entities in order to completely reduce the export of wood raw materials and enable the unimpeded development of the furniture industry in BiH," stated the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH previously received initiatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of RS and from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry, for a ban on the export of timber assortments and the introduction of taxes on the export of sawn timber.
