Šarović: HDZ and SDA are partners, is there any combination where they are not

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Mirko Šarović, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the new president of the Serbian Democratic Party, the day after the SDS Assembly elected him president, was a guest on N1 television and said that he has a lot of work to do within the party after the election.

205 delegates voted for Šarović as SDS president, and his opponent Milan Miličević received 181 votes. The difference is small, but does this difference represent a major division within the SDS?

"I said yesterday that there had to be some difference. This number does not indicate a division within the party, but the strength of my opponent, who was an excellent SDS candidate. I am the seventh president of the SDS, and they have always been elected from among multiple candidates."

Regarding whether Miličević deserved at least the position of first deputy president given the large number of votes, Šarović said that this would also be discussed and that he would not decide alone.

Regarding a coalition with other ruling parties, SDA and HDZ, Šarović answered: "At this moment, there is no calculation about whether we would form one. We have not seriously discussed it with anyone. If we have the opportunity to talk with DNS, SP, we will certainly talk, not only about state-level government but also in Republika Srpska. Why not. We have taken the stance to open a dialogue with other political options, but a coalition is a different matter."

Commenting on Dragan Čović's statement that SDS is the spokesperson for SDA, Šarović commented: "Dragan Čović is in a coalition with SDA at the federal and state levels, they cooperate 10 times more than we do with SDA. They have had excellent cooperation and they will be partners. Do you think there is any combination where SDA and HDZ are not partners? This is just throwing dust in people's eyes."

Šarović said that he believes the Council of Ministers will receive the budget for the next three months tomorrow, which is guaranteed by the Constitution, and it is also guaranteed that this temporary financing can be continued, i.e., extended.
