SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Bosnia and Herzegovina has been granted permission to export eggs for processing to the European Union market. At the meeting of the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed, section for import controls and conditions, the European Commission gave the "green light" for the export of this type of food from our country to the EU to begin. Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović emphasizes that, after the approval of chicken meat exports, egg exports are another success for BiH's poultry farming and the entire food industry.
"After our months-long preparations, we have succeeded in obtaining this permit from the European Commission as well. This is a significant success because the export of eggs will increase the competitiveness of the poultry sector and overall production, not only of eggs but of the entire food industry. Until now, no product containing eggs from Bosnia and Herzegovina could be exported to the EU. With this, we have also removed that problem, and manufacturers of composite products such as pasta, bakery products, etc., can now export without hindrance."
The final inclusion of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the list of countries approved for exporting eggs for processing to the European Union market will occur in the coming weeks. After obtaining the permit for exporting eggs for processing, plans are also in place to submit a request for a permit to export table eggs, with the prerequisite being the approval of the salmonella control plan.
The approval of table egg exports is also expected by autumn.
