Šarović: BiH could join WTO in December, expecting permission for export of chicken meat and eggs to the EU

Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović stated that BiH is a favorite for accession to the World Trade Organization and expects it to happen as early as December, at a meeting that will be held in Argentina, writes the Patria News Agency.

At the same time, good news for BiH is that at the end of September, an inspection team from the Inspectorate for the European Union will arrive to inspect the poultry sector and the production of table eggs. 

Minister Šarović expressed hope that after this visit, BiH will be placed on the list of countries allowed to export processed chicken meat products, and likely eggs as well. Companies that could meet the required conditions have been selected. Šarović explained that when it came to inspecting milk production companies, three were selected, and now nine are exporting.

Given that Croatia has increased fees for the inspection of fruits and vegetables imported from third countries, including BiH, this has caused revolt among BiH exporters.

- We expect Croatia to withdraw the regulation, or revise it. They must not anger us in any way, they must respect us. The right solution is for us to reach an effective and quick agreement - said Šarović.
