Colorful parade passed through Sarajevo: 14th Kid's festival opened

Today marks the 14th Kid's festival, held under the slogan "In honor of children and childhood," and children from all over BiH and visitors will enjoy diverse content divided into five units for five senses, writes Patria agency.

The Kid's festival began with a traditional colorful parade accompanied by the sounds of brass bands and majorettes with several hundred participants. The children marched from Baščaršija towards Vijećnica, then along the Miljacka river to Zlatarska street and towards the Cathedral.

The 14th Kid's festival was officially opened at Alija Izetbegović Square, and during the all-day gathering, children from Sarajevo, Kiseljak, Ljubinje, Brčko, and other cities will enjoy the prepared content.

The festival is held at several locations, including the BiH Armed Forces House and the Art Gallery of BiH, where some workshops will take place.

Representatives of the UNDP agency will have a special thematic program. Kent Larson from the USAID Mission said that they are all there to celebrate and support the children of BiH. USAID has been supporting the Kid's festival for five years.

Since 2015, the Kid's festival has been under the patronage of UNESCO, and this year too, words of support arrived from Director-General Irina Bokova.

Siniša Šešum, Head of the UNESCO Mission, said that this is one of the most significant events for Sarajevo and BiH.

- Messages of peace have been coming from Sarajevo for the last 13 years, and this year too, through the Kid's festival, and that is important to us.

The partner of the Kid's festival all these years has also been the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS, and an educational workshop with tracking dogs will be organized for the children.

Festival Director Susanne Prahl said that children have been returning to them for 14 years, and that is an unforgettable feeling for them.
