Sarajevo resident Almin Raonić ordered into custody for extorting Mostar resident

(Patria) - At the proposal of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Prosecutor's Office, the Municipal Court in Mostar ordered custody for a maximum of one month for the suspect Almin Raonić (1999), with a registered residence in the municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo.

Custody was ordered due to the existence of a well-founded suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of "Association for the purpose of committing criminal offenses", in conjunction with the criminal offenses of "Causing general danger", "Grievous bodily harm", "Extortion", and "Endangering security" of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The suspect Almin Raonić is accused of having, in the period from October 29, 2023, to November 25, 2023, jointly and in agreement as part of a group of people, with Dž.O. from Hadžići and other persons known to them, associated for the purpose of committing the aforementioned criminal offenses, with the aim of acquiring unlawful property gain for himself, to the detriment of the property of the victim I.Č., from Mostar.

As stated, the aforementioned Mostar resident was repeatedly threatened with an attack on his life and body, and was physically attacked and injured, and on one occasion an explosive device was thrown in front of the victim's house, all with the aim of extorting a certain amount of money from the victim, which caused him fear for his own safety and the safety of his family members.

The Municipal Court in Mostar assessed that the ordering of custody for the suspect Almin Raonić is fully founded and justified, due to particular circumstances indicating that he will obstruct criminal proceedings by influencing witnesses, accomplices, or concealers, and due to particular circumstances that justify the fear that he will repeat criminal offenses for which a prison sentence of three years or more can be imposed.

The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Prosecutor's Office, in cooperation with the Federal Police Administration (FUP), continues to undertake investigative actions in this case in order to establish all the facts and circumstances under which these criminal offenses were committed, as well as to identify other co-perpetrators of these criminal offenses.
