Sarajevo residents sign petition in support of the Palestinian people

Dozens of Sarajevo residents are signing a petition today in front of the Sarajevo Cathedral to support the initiative to end Israel's aggression on Palestine, which has been ongoing for more than 60 years, reports a reporter for the BH News Agency Patria.

The association "Palestinian Community in BiH", the "Bosnian-Palestinian Friendship Association", and the association "Young Muslims" are organizing a petition signing today in front of the Sarajevo Cathedral as part of the International Campaign "Solidarity with Prisoners in Israeli Camps".

Citizens can cast their vote between 2 PM and 6 PM against violations of the International Convention on Human Rights, violations of all conventions on the protection of children, the elderly, and sick persons who are detained in Israeli dungeons without any legal basis and without any indictments filed.

Madžid Maruf, president of the association "Palestinian Community in BiH", says it is very important that a voice of support for Palestinians comes from Sarajevo, which is the European Jerusalem.

- The international community has been talking for years about how Palestine should be helped, but they are not doing anything concrete to stop the aggression on our country - says Maruf.

Avdo Hebib, president of the Bosnian-Palestinian Friendship Association, reminded that Palestinians, in their suffering, sent aid to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the aggression on our country, and that Bosnians and Herzegovinians now have a strong obligation to help the Palestinian people.

- Remember that Palestinians sent blood for our wounded - says Hebib.

It is estimated that since 1967, Israeli occupying forces have arrested and imprisoned around 800,000 Palestinians for shorter and longer periods, which is more than 20% of the population of the occupied Palestinian territories.
Currently, more than 6,000 innocent Palestinians are detained in Israeli dungeons. Of these, 187 are children under 18 years of age, 21 women, 1,500 sick people, and 12 parliamentarians, including the Speaker of the Palestinian Parliament, Dr. Abdul-Aziz Duwaik.

- In fact, no one knows the exact figures. Because people disappear daily, every night the Israeli army takes Palestinians to camps - says Hebib.

In the last three weeks alone, Israeli authorities have arrested more than 640 Palestinians. And the Israeli occupying government wants to stop the international processes for resolving the Palestinian issue in every way and to keep all of Palestine and the Palestinian people under occupation after 66 years, reports Patria.
