Sarajevans rob again in Travnik, arrested five minutes after robbery

The Travnik police station reported a robbery at the Konzum supermarket in the Kalibunar neighborhood in Travnik on February 23 at 6:45 PM, reports the Patria news agency.  

The robbery was carried out by two unknown male individuals, who were masked and armed with a pistol. The perpetrators, threatening with the use of a weapon, stole money in the amount of about 500 KM and a larger quantity of top-up vouchers for various telecom operators from the female employees, after which they fled in an unknown direction.

Immediately upon receiving the report, a blockade of the wider area was carried out, and a search of the terrain was initiated.

At 6:50 PM on Šehida Street in Travnik, at the intersection of the M-5 main road and Donja Mahala Street in Travnik, a police patrol from the Travnik Police Station stopped a BMW vehicle with license plates E96-K-598 at a checkpoint. The vehicle was driven by E.M., born in 1988 from Sarajevo, and in the vehicle were also A.P. (born 1992) and A.K. (born 1992), both from Sarajevo.

Due to suspicion of committing the aforementioned criminal offense, these individuals were deprived of their liberty, and after being presented with the collected evidence, they fully confessed that they were the perpetrators of this robbery. Officers of the Criminal Police of the Travnik Police Administration continue to undertake additional investigative actions to document this criminal offense, after which a report will be submitted to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Travnik, announced the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Central Bosnia Canton.  

As a reminder, this is already the second group from the Sarajevo area arrested for robbery in the Central Bosnia Canton. The first group of 6 individuals, who committed robberies in the area of several cantons, was arrested at the beginning of February this year and remanded in custody. On that occasion, their connection to several criminal offenses in the area of Kiseljak, Travnik, and Vitez was documented. For the group arrested last night, efforts will also be made to establish a connection with robberies committed in the earlier period in this area.

The motive of the perpetrators for coming from other areas lies in their assessment that their detection would be difficult given the fact that they are unknown to police officers. Bearing in mind the fact that the time required to commit these criminal offenses as well as to leave the scene of the crime is very short, this almost makes it impossible to arrest the suspects at the scene, and conducting investigative actions is very complex given that the perpetrators are from other areas.
