SARAJEVO: Laboratory for growing and producing marijuana seized

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - During planned activities to find narcotic drugs, police officers of the Department for Combating Abuse of Narcotic Drugs - Criminal Police Sector, Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, based on operational intelligence exchange with police officers of the Third Police Administration, under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, yesterday in Čobanija Street, searched a person identified as N. U., born in 1988 in Sarajevo, where he resides.

On that occasion, one hand-rolled "joint" cigarette with dry herbaceous matter resembling the narcotic drug marijuana was found and seized from him.

Based on the Order of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, a search was conducted of a rented apartment used by N. U. in the Centar Sarajevo municipality. On that occasion, a complete "LABORATORY" for growing and producing the narcotic drug marijuana was found and seized, containing the following:

- 131 plants up to 170 cm high resembling the plant species "CANNABIS SATIVA",

- approximately 7.7 kg of dry herbaceous matter resembling the narcotic drug marijuana,

- one digital scale, and

- one "SIG Sauer P-238" pistol with a magazine for it and three bullets.

Due to the grounds for suspicion that he committed criminal offenses under Article 238, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Unauthorized Production and Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs) and Article 74 of the Law on Narcotic Drugs of Sarajevo Canton, N.U. was deprived of liberty and handed over to the premises of the Unit for Security of Facilities and Detention of Detained Persons of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton. After the completion of the criminal investigation, he will be handed over to the jurisdiction of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton along with an official report on the committed criminal offenses.
