Sarajevo under Siege: Remembering the Formation of the First Police Brigade Stari Grad

On today's Trg Oslobođenja - Alija Izetbegović, on 18 May 1992, the First Police Brigade Stari Grad Sarajevo was formed. The formation was carried out by the commander of the First Brigade, Ismet Dahić, and the review was conducted by the then police chief Enes Bezdrob and the assistant minister of the MUP of RBiH, Jusuf Pušina, reports the Patria news agency.

At that time, 750 reserve police officers stood in formation. It was a very significant event, because at that time the First Police Brigade Stari Grad was the most organized legal unit. Its members fought not only on the Sarajevo front, but also on many battlefields outside Sarajevo during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Today, as in previous years, numerous delegations will lay wreaths and flowers at the memorial plaque in memory of the fallen police officers.
