SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Sarajevo Osiguranje is an example that a company with state capital participation can be a market leader in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
With a premium of 36.06 million KM in the first six months of 2019, according to data from the Insurance Supervision Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo Osiguranje maintained its leading position among 12 insurance companies in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, increasing its lead over the second-placed Adriatic Osiguranje, which also achieved a high premium of 33.9 million KM in the first six months of this year.
Thus, Sarajevo Osiguranje, with a 1.7 million KM advantage over Adriatic in May of this year, increased that advantage to 2.1 million KM in June.
In third place among the most successful insurance companies in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is Unica with a premium of 32.2 million KM in the first six months of 2019. It is followed by Euroherc Osiguranje with a premium of 31.2 million KM and Croatia Osiguranje with a premium of 27.8 million KM from January 1 to June 30, 2019.
Compared to the same period in 2018, Sarajevo Osiguranje recorded a growth of about five million KM.
Only Central Osiguranje and Camelia recorded a decrease in premiums compared to last year.
Sarajevo Osiguranje was founded after the end of World War II in 1945 as the State Insurance Institute (DOZ) and at that time played a primary role in property insurance.
The share of state capital in Sarajevo Osiguranje - the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina - today amounts to 45.48 percent of the capital, while the owners of the remaining capital are smaller shareholders and funds.
