Sarajevo Osiguranje Holds Leading Position in Insurance Market for Five Months

(Patria) - Sarajevo Osiguranje has held the leading position in the insurance market in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for five months, after taking over the leading position from Uniqa Osiguranje in April, reports the Patria News Agency.

According to data from the Insurance Supervision Agency of FBiH, available on their website Nados.ba, with 47.7 million KM in premiums in the first eight months of this year, Sarajevo Osiguranje remains the leader in the insurance market in FBiH, while Adriatic Osiguranje is in second place with 45.9 million KM in premiums. In third place is Euroherc Osiguranje with 42.2 million KM in achieved premiums.

Compared to the same period last year, Sarajevo Osiguranje increased its premiums from 41.6 to 47.7 million KM, or by slightly more than six million KM.

The strong growth in Sarajevo Osiguranje's business has also contributed to the increase in the value of this insurance company, leading to its shares averaging 15 KM in August, or almost three times more than the average value from the previous year, when the share price of Sarajevo Osiguranje ranged from 5.5 KM to 7 KM.

Of the 11 insurance companies operating in the Federation of BiH, excluding insurance companies operating in the FBiH market but headquartered in another BiH entity, Republika Srpska, all companies are recording premium growth, except for Camelia Osiguranje and Central Osiguranje, which are recording a slight decrease in premiums.

In the insurance market in FBiH in the first eight months of this year, 11 insurance companies generated 336.8 million KM in premiums, which is an increase compared to last year when the premium value from January 1 to August 31 was 361.5 million KM.

The Government of FBiH owns 45.5 percent of the shares in Sarajevo Osiguranje, and the remaining shares are owned by investment funds, companies, and individuals.
