SARAJEVO Retail stores selling hygiene products are not banned

(Patria) - The Civil Protection Staff of Sarajevo Canton, chaired by commander and Minister of Communal Economy and Infrastructure of KS Nihada Glamoč, held its Third Extraordinary Session this evening, analyzing the current situation in Sarajevo Canton, caused by the appearance and spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in our country.

All measures and activities undertaken to implement the orders of the competent civil protection staffs were also considered. The Staff concluded that the order related to the continuous functioning of the Cantonal Operational Center for Civil Protection, through which calls related to the occurrence of the coronavirus infectious disease (reporting new cases, violations of self-isolation, etc.) are received via number 121, has been respected. It was also emphasized that the staff of this center is provided with professional medical assistance from employees of the KS Public Health Institute during such functioning.

On this occasion, the members of the Staff pointed out that the order related to the implementation of intensified extraordinary measures for waste collection, cleaning, washing, and disinfection is also being implemented – especially city streets, sidewalks, public staircases, squares, public parking lots, and paved or asphalted areas. It was also emphasized that measures for disinfecting handrails on bridges over the Miljacka River, from the Vijećnica Bridge to the Suada Dilberović Bridge, are being implemented. Representatives of municipal civil protection staffs with their forces are also engaged in these tasks.

The Staff also issued a clarification regarding the order related to the temporary suspension of all stores in shopping centers, except for stores selling basic food items and pharmacies in the Canton, emphasizing that this ban does not apply to retail stores selling hygiene products.

In accordance with today's conclusion of the KS Government, the Staff also issued an order directing the KS Commodity Reserves Directorate to allocate all available quantities of 96% Alcohol from its reserves and distribute it through the Staff according to the needs of the galenic laboratories within the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, the Public Institution General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš" and the Public Institution "Health Center of Sarajevo Canton."
