Sarajevo: No forgetting, no forgiveness for murdered children

The "Children of Sarajevo" event today at the Monument to the Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995 marked the Day of Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo and Victory Over Fascism Day, writes the Patria News Agency.

In Veliki park, where the memorial is located, several hundred students from Sarajevo's secondary and primary schools and kindergartens paid tribute to the children killed during the siege of the capital.

Parents of the murdered children were also at the memorial today. Tears flowed from them, just as they did on the day their daughters and sons were killed by snipers and shells during innocent children's play.

Fikret Grabovica, president of the Association of Parents of Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo from 1992-1995, said that the goal of this gathering is to preserve the memory and truth from oblivion of the murdered children of this city.

-We want to send a message to the youth to build and create a better and more beautiful life, to send a message with the motive of the "Stay Here" event, not to leave their city, their country, that there is a future here, that it only takes effort. Their weapon in all life battles should be knowledge and truth, said Grabovica.

Numerous delegations from the municipal to the state level laid flowers at the memorial today.
