Sarajevo: Chinese national smuggling 27,554 counterfeit shoe brand labels

During customs inspection of passengers and goods at Sarajevo International Airport, officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority prevented an illegal attempt to import counterfeit brands and various technical equipment, reports the Patria News Agency.

During a detailed inspection of the luggage carried by a Chinese national, a resident of Brčko District, from Istanbul, 27,554 counterfeit labels of well-known global footwear manufacturers were found. Officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority informed the duty judge of the competent court, and upon his order, the goods were temporarily seized pending the conclusion of the proceedings.

During a detailed inspection of a shipment at the Sarajevo Airport customs post, in the Cargo center, a significant quantity of undeclared various technical goods, chargers, headphones, cables, USB drives, etc., was discovered. It was a shipment from China for an importer from Živinice, and in addition to smuggling, there is also suspicion of intellectual property rights infringement. Therefore, UIO officials informed the authorized trademark representative, who will take further measures before the competent court, it was announced from the UIO.
