SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur, and the Director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, Mirsad Purivatra, met today to formalize their cooperation and discuss the possibilities of expanding cooperation in the coming years.
This year, audiences will once again be able to enjoy the Sarajevo Film Festival programs at MMC - Kino Ilidža, where the most popular films will be screened. Screenings will begin on Friday, August 13, at 9:00 PM with the film DESET U POLA by Oscar winner Danis Tanović, which is one of the two opening films of this year's Sarajevo Film Festival.
Muzur and Purivatra visited the location of Veliki park on Ilidža, which is expected to become a new festival location in the coming years, a new large open-air cinema.
“The focus of our meeting was how we can raise the level of cooperation in the coming years, by moving a larger and more significant number of Sarajevo Film Festival contents to Ilidža. For this reason, we also visited this park, which has great potential – to create an open-air stage and additional content. We presented this location to the Director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, in the hope that we will find a solution together on how to best utilize these potentials and resources for our audience,” stated Nermin Muzur.
Purivatra emphasized that this location could be transformed into a cultural hub where cultural and artistic programs could be held throughout the summer.
“I think this is a wonderful start to our cooperation with the new Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Mr. Nermin Muzur. The plans are very ambitious. This long-term project should have all the elements of excellence and build a completely new approach to cultural events in the Ilidža area, which I believe can be valuable not only for this municipality but also for the Sarajevo Canton, and even the region. I would even say that this place could become something more than a cinema; it could develop into a cultural hub where fantastic programs could take place throughout the summer, becoming a new favorite spot for Sarajevans and numerous tourists,” concluded Purivatra.
The cooperation between the Sarajevo Film Festival and the Ilidža Municipality began in 2017, at the 23rd Sarajevo Film Festival.
Tickets for all this year's screenings are on sale ONLINE and at the Main Box Office (Bosanski kulturni centar, Branilaca Sarajeva 24). The 27th Sarajevo Film Festival will be held from August 13 to August 20, 2021.
