Cooperation between FUP and Faculty of Criminalistics in the fight against radicalization

(Patria) - Deputy Director of the Federal Police Administration, Ensad Korman held a meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies of the University of Sarajevo, Nedžad Korajlić, as well as a representative of the association "New Security Initiative from Sarajevo", regarding the implementation of the project "Defining Factors and Processes Leading to Radicalization, Extremism and Terrorism in Bosnia and Herzegovina – DeFRET", which is being carried out by the mentioned partners.
 
The general goal of the project is to engage and strengthen the research capacities of the academic community and civil society in combating radicalization that leads to violent extremism, while the specific goal of this project is to research the impact of foreign fighters returning to their home countries on the local community and youth.
 
Given that one of the primary responsibilities of the Federal Police Administration is the fight against terrorism, extremism, and violent radicalization in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and consequently, it is one of the key factors in the deradicalization process of BiH citizens who have returned from foreign battlefields, cooperation and joint action within the aforementioned project were agreed upon at the meeting.
 
Regarding the mentioned issue, the Federal Police Administration continuously acts and carries out activities within its jurisdiction, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, on the implementation of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Strategy for Prevention and Fight against Terrorism (2015-2020), so the agreed activities will be in line with the realization of previously set goals.
 
In addition to the above, activities regarding training in the field of cybercrime and other specialized training that the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies of the University of Sarajevo will provide to the Federal Police Administration in the coming period were agreed upon at the meeting.
