Traffic collapse on Bradina, two vehicles skidded into a ditch near Kakanj

Rain that is falling and freezing on the roads, along with snow in higher areas, caused traffic chaos on Bradina, completely blocking vehicle traffic, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Trucks, as well as passenger cars, have stopped on Bradina, and police are on the scene.

As the Bosnian news agency Patria learns, two vehicles overturned on the Visoko - Kakanj highway, and that section of the road has not been cleared. The Operations Center of the ZDK Ministry of Interior stated that on the A1 highway from Kakanj to Zenica, vehicles skidded off the road, and a father and daughter were transported to the Zenica Cantonal Hospital, but they sustained minor injuries.

In most of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in lower areas, driving conditions are on mostly wet or snowy roads, while in higher areas there is packed snow on the road. On roads in the wider area of Romanija and Kupres, as well as on the roads Sarajevo-Foča, Foča-Gacko and Ljubinje-Bileća the use of chains is mandatory for trucks. On other roads leading over mountain passes, the use of chains is recommended for trucks. 

Due to snow and strong wind, traffic is difficult on the main road Livno-Šuica, as well as on roads in the wider area of Gacko and Tjentište.  Road maintenance crews are on the ground and are intervening on all sections, but the snow that is still falling heavily is hindering their work.

Since last night at 7 PM, due to heavy snowfall and strong wind creating drifts, the regional road R-419 Mihalji - Blidinje has been closed to all vehicles again.

Due to frequent landslides, we draw attention to the roads: Salakovac-Mostar-Doljani, Banja Luka-Teslić, Dobro Polje-Miljevina-Brod na Drini, Mrkonjić Grad-Crna Rijeka and Turbe-Skender Vakuf-Karanovac.

We advise drivers to drive more carefully, to adjust their driving to current conditions and road conditions, and not to set off without winter equipment.
