Traffic inspectors issued 1,252 misdemeanor warrants totaling 681,380 KM in 11 months

Traffic inspectors of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs supervise the implementation of the Law on Taxi Transport in the Sarajevo Canton, which came into force on March 31, 2014, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

As a result of continuous and round-the-clock inspection supervision in the period from January 1 to December 1, 2014, cantonal traffic inspectors carried out 1,965 inspections during the supervision of public non-line passenger transport - taxi transport in the Sarajevo Canton. In the observed period, 70 vehicles were removed from traffic, and 4 vehicles were temporarily seized pending a final court decision. A total of 305 decisions on temporary bans on performing transport were issued, and 75 requests for initiating misdemeanor proceedings were submitted.

This year, inspectors also issued 1,252 misdemeanor warrants imposing fines totaling 681,380 KM. With the entry into force of the Law on Taxi Transport in the Sarajevo Canton, in addition to cantonal traffic inspectors, police officers authorized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton also perform control tasks over taxi vehicles and drivers in accordance with its provisions.

We emphasize that the Inspectorate of Traffic and Road Inspection has, since 2013, placed emphasis in its program tasks on providing taxi transport services, which has continued at full capacity to this day.
Inspections are carried out by inspector teams, working in two shifts, i.e., during daytime and evening hours, which significantly affects the number of inspections performed, measures taken, and also the evidently improved situation in this area, as indicated by the reports of the competent Inspectorate.
