(Patria) - One of the largest pools in the world is located in a hotel complex in Chile. It was built by the multinational company Crystal Lagoons and looks more like an ocean than a pool.
Although we still think that no pool can compare to the sea, while swimming in this one, there is little chance that crowds in the water will bother you.
Namely, the pool of the private resort San Alfonso de Mar covers an area of about eight hectares and contains a total of 66 million gallons of filtered seawater from the Pacific Ocean.
It was dethroned as the largest pool in the world in 2015 by the Citystars Sharm el Sheikh hotel in Egypt, which, with an area of 12.5 hectares, was declared the largest, and this data is also in the Guinness Book of Records.
Despite this, the Chilean water wonder is still very popular. The fact that you won't just splash around in it is also indicated by its width of 1,013 meters and a maximum depth of 3.5 meters.
You can dive in it, and there is also the possibility of water skiing.
However, of all the data, the one concerning its size is far more impressive - the pool is as large as 6,000 standard pools.
The entire pool is given a special charm by its turquoise color, and the water temperature is 26 degrees Celsius, so swimming here is significantly more pleasant and safer than in the ocean.
The pool was opened in 2006, exactly after five years of construction, and between 1.5 and 2 billion dollars were spent on the entire project.
