SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A high-ranking Russian military official mysteriously died after falling from the 16th floor of a residential building, agencies report.
The body of Marina Yankina was found on the sidewalk in front of the building in St. Petersburg, the Independent reported.
She was reportedly the director of finance for the Western Military District, one of the five geographical battalions that make up the Russian army. Yankina reportedly played a key role in increasing the funding efforts for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Western Military District confirmed to the Independent that an employee had died, but declined to comment further. It is unclear whether Yankina lived in the building.
Yankina is the second high-ranking Russian military official to die in an alleged suicide in the past week.
Major General Vladimir Makarov, who held a position in the Main Directorate for Combating Extremism, allegedly shot himself on Monday, a month after Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed him from his post.
