Zlatan Filipović's Solo Exhibition: Spaces and Memories

After the opening of Marijo Šunjić's solo exhibition Continuum tremens, the Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina will present a solo exhibition of another Bosnian-Herzegovinian artist, Zlatan Filipović. The exhibition opening is on Tuesday, January 26, at 7 PM, reports the Patria News Agency.

The artistic/research project and exhibition Spaces of Memory | The Places of Memory by Zlatan Filipović, an artist and educator from Sarajevo, questions the role and impact of digital technologies on contemporary artistic expression.

The starting points for the perspective in creating digital panoramic records in this series are located in Sarajevo and Sharjah (United Arab Emirates).

Although at first glance the panoramas appear as completely realistic depictions of the mentioned spaces, a certain dose of the unusual and different layers these spaces, and the observer soon begins to perceive a new dimension of transformation and filling of space with elements that originally originate from those locations.

The material and static dimension of the digital photo works is complemented by digital dynamic augmentation (AR augmented reality), a component of the work that visitors will be able to access using a program/application available for iOS and Android devices (Aurasma AR).

Digital augmented reality (AR) is a field that Filipović has been exploring in his creative work for some time. Within the exhibition, a prototype of an AR monograph will also be presented, a project under development, which aims to create an application for iOS/Android devices with a focus on presenting artists, galleries, and cultural institutions.

Zlatan Filipović works as an Associate Professor at the American University of Sharjah in the College of Architecture, Art and Design. He completed his undergraduate studies in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo and his master's degree in Electronic Integrated Arts at NYSCC Alfred University in the United States of America.

He has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, among which it is particularly worth mentioning his participation in the Biennial of Contemporary European Art Manifesta 4 in Frankfurt, Almine Rech Gallery in Paris, Siemens art Laboratory in Vienna, University of New Mexico Art Museum, Albuquerque, Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Maraya Art Centre in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, the Biennial of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, Sharjah Art Museum (Opus 3 & 4).

The exhibition will be open from January 26 to February 5, 2016, and you can visit it on all weekdays and Saturdays from 10 AM to 8 PM, it was announced from the Art Gallery of BiH.
