Salkić: Attack in Janja is a consequence of radical separatist policy

(Patria) - Ramiz Salkić, Vice President of the BiH entity RS, said today, January 6, 2022, that this morning's armed attack and verbal abuse of Bosniak worshippers in Janja are a consequence of the radical separatist policy implemented by the authorities of the BiH entity RS, led by Milorad Dodik, and that the Bosniaks of Janja, as well as Bosniaks throughout the BiH entity RS, are concerned about this event and the lack of a stronger reaction to prevent the endangerment of peace and stability by separatist-oriented extremists.

- This morning's armed attack and verbal abuse of Bosniak worshippers in Janja are a consequence of the radical separatist policy implemented by the authorities of the BiH entity RS, led by Milorad Dodik. The continuous political and media campaign aimed at insulting Bosniaks, denying the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, calling for secession, and portraying Bosniaks as a threat, aims to produce such attacks on Bosniaks.

This is not the first armed attack on a mosque in Janja, which was demolished by the Serbian authorities in 1993. Due to the fact that previous attacks have not been solved, and that the destroyers of the mosque have not been punished, we are seeing new attacks.

This is a serious warning for everyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the international community about where the unpunished radical separatist policy of Milorad Dodik and his followers can lead us. The Bosniaks of Janja, as well as Bosniaks throughout the BiH entity RS, are concerned about this event and the lack of a stronger reaction to prevent the endangerment of peace and stability by separatist-oriented extremists.

I call on the competent security agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina to intensify their activities and presence on the Drina River to prevent similar incidents that could seriously threaten peace in our country. The current situation also requires an increased presence of international security forces on the Drina, as there is a noticeable increase in the use of firearms during religious and New Year holidays in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

I call on the Ministry of Interior of the BiH entity RS to release the names of those who carried out the armed attack on worshippers and the mosque in Janja, thereby demonstrating their impartiality in this case.
Vice President of the BiH entity RS, Ramiz Salkić, will visit the Islamic Community of Janja tomorrow, January 7, 2022, at 11:00 AM, and meet with representatives of the Majlis and representatives of the Bosniaks. After that, he will attend the Friday prayer at the mosque that was the target of the attack and speak with the Bosniaks of Janja," Salkić stated.
