(Patria) - A high-ranking Iranian source stated today that the US has agreed to release frozen Iranian assets worth six billion dollars, which were held in Qatar and other foreign banks.
The source assessed this move as a sign of "seriousness" in reaching an agreement with Washington in the negotiations in Islamabad.
The United States has not publicly commented on the issue of unfreezing assets for now.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the topic, told Reuters that the unfreezing of assets is "directly related to ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz," which is expected to be one of the key issues in the negotiations.
