US calls on China and Russia for talks on nuclear weapons

(Patria) - US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the US is calling on Russia and China to engage in unconditional talks on arms control.

- We must adhere to existing arms control obligations, immediately, without any conditions, with Russia and China. All they have to say is "yes" and sit down at the negotiating table in good faith.

Nuclear-weapon states must adhere to the moratorium on explosive nuclear tests," Thomas-Greenfield said in an address to the UN.

She emphasizes the need to end the production of material used in nuclear weapons, and adds that the US is officially among the friends of Japan, the Fissile Material Cut-Off Treaty (FCMT) coalition, as of today.
