US Postpones Announcement of Peace Plan for Israel and Palestine

TEL AVIV, (Patria) - US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman announced that Trump's plan for Israeli-Palestinian peace will be presented in the coming months, which is another postponement of the announcement.

US President Donald Trump said in September that his plan would be released in two to four months, while Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon later said that the plan would be presented in early 2019.

Meanwhile, early elections have been announced in Israel for April 9, and numerous analysts believe that the plan could cause a lot of controversy if it were presented before the elections, reports Hina.

"I would say that the plan will be revealed in the coming months," said US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.

Explaining the delay, he said it was also due to the Israeli elections, but that they were not the only factor. He added that the plan is practically finished, but needs to be refined.

"When we announce it, we want it to have the best chance of being accepted. The challenge for the peace plan is to achieve as accurate an assessment of the reality in the region as possible," Friedman specified.

This new postponement was mentioned while White House National Security Advisor John Bolton has been in Israel since Saturday.
