US Renews Military Aid to Ukraine, Kyiv Agrees to 30-Day Ceasefire

(Patria) - The United States and Ukraine have issued a joint statement following a meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

It was confirmed that the US will immediately lift the pause on intelligence sharing and continue sending military aid to Ukraine.

Kyiv has expressed readiness to accept the US proposal for an immediate, temporary ceasefire of 30 days, which can be extended with mutual agreement of the parties, provided that Russia agrees and implements it simultaneously.

"The United States will convey to Russia that reciprocity is key to achieving peace," the statement said.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the US put forward the ceasefire proposal, which Ukraine accepted.

- We offered a proposal to enter into a ceasefire and begin negotiations to end this conflict in a lasting and sustainable way - Rubio told reporters after the meeting.

Furthermore, the presidents of Ukraine and the US reached an agreement on concluding a comprehensive agreement for the development of Ukraine's key mineral resources as soon as possible.

"The goal of the agreement is to expand Ukraine's economy, offset the costs of US aid, and ensure Ukraine's long-term prosperity and security," the joint statement said.

The meeting between US and Ukrainian officials in the Saudi port of Jeddah lasted more than eight hours.
